EU TEXTILES ECOSYSTEM PLATFORM
Supporting the transformation of Europe’s textile ecosystem
The Textile Transition Pathway is the European Commission’s roadmap for strengthening the resilience, sustainability and competitiveness of the textile ecosystem. Developed in collaboration with industry, social partners, public authorities and other stakeholders, it identifies the actions needed to support the sector’s transition towards a more digital, circular and innovative future.
The pathway highlights the importance of investing in people alongside technology. As new business models, digital solutions and sustainable production practices reshape the industry, developing the right skills has become a key priority.
The TCLF Skills Alliance contributes to the implementation of the Textile Transition Pathway by supporting the objectives related to skills, education and workforce development. Through the Pact for Skills, Regional Skills Partnerships and EU-funded projects, the Alliance helps businesses, workers and education providers anticipate future skills needs and develop practical training solutions that support the transition.
Key priorities
The Textile Transition Pathway identifies several areas where coordinated action is needed to strengthen the European textile ecosystem. The TCLF Skills Alliance contributes in particular to:
- promoting lifelong learning, reskilling and upskilling across the textile, clothing, leather and footwear sectors;
- supporting the green and digital transition through targeted education and training;
- strengthening cooperation between industry, education providers, regional authorities and social partners;
- addressing skills shortages and improving the attractiveness of careers in the TCLF sectors;
- sharing best practices and fostering collaboration through Regional Skills Partnerships.
The EU Textiles Ecosystem Platform provides a space for stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share good practices and follow the implementation of the Transition Pathway.
