European Initiatives

TCLF SkillBridge, METASKILLS4TCLF and AEQUALIS4TCLF support the TCLF Skills Alliance in turning shared European ambitions into practical action for the textile, clothing, leather and footwear sectors. Each project addresses different parts of the skills challenge, while contributing to a common goal: ensuring that companies, workers and education and training providers are prepared for the changing needs of the sector.

Together, the projects help identify emerging occupations and skills requirements linked to digitalisation, sustainability, circular production and new business models. They translate this knowledge into updated curricula, training materials and learning opportunities that can be applied by companies, vocational education and training providers, universities and other organisations. By strengthening cooperation between industry and education, they also help ensure that training reflects workplace needs and that workers have access to relevant opportunities for upskilling and reskilling.

Their work supports companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, in responding to skills shortages and adapting to the green and digital transition. It also contributes to making TCLF careers more visible and attractive by highlighting new professional profiles, modern technologies and opportunities for continuous professional development. In this way, the projects support both the competitiveness of European companies and the employability of current and future workers.

A strong regional dimension connects these European activities with the realities of local industries and labour markets. The projects reinforce Regional Skills Partnerships by bringing together companies, education and training providers, public authorities, social partners and sector organisations. These partnerships help regions identify their priorities, coordinate training provision and develop responses adapted to the composition and needs of their local TCLF ecosystems. Knowledge and solutions developed in one region can then be exchanged, adapted and applied elsewhere.

Through ECOSYSTEX, the projects also connect with the wider European textile ecosystem. ECOSYSTEX provides a space for EU-funded projects and sector stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share results and explore opportunities for cooperation. This strengthens the visibility and reach of project outcomes, encourages links between related activities and helps ensure that useful tools, research and training resources remain accessible beyond individual projects.

The TCLF Skills Alliance provides the common framework connecting these efforts. It brings project partners, Pact for Skills signatories and Regional Skills Partnerships into a broader European community committed to skills development. By sharing project results across this network, the Alliance helps successful approaches reach more organisations, supports cooperation across countries and regions, and contributes to a skilled, innovative, competitive and resilient TCLF sector.
